Home Makeover Progress
This week I’ve been painting like a crazy person. I’ve been doing my best to brighten the hall, stairs and landing, as well as the two new bedrooms. Yes, it may be boring white to you, but to me it’s fresh, bright and bounces the light around (magnolia is not for me). As I’ve been painting on fresh plaster I’ve had to do some mist coats so the paint doesn’t just soak into the walls immediately then start to peel off. So, after a few watery coats of paint (more on me than the walls) and a nice thick top coat it’s starting to look how I’d imagined. Unfortunately, budget didn’t allow for the stippled ceilings to be smooth so I’m still in the process of painting and stain blocking these. The stain blocker smells so strong you start to get delirious and think your best buddy is shoving a Sambuca or a vodka shot in your face. The stipples also managed to rip one of my paint roller heads apart – I’m sure I’m not that heavy handed.
Once I’ve managed to cover all the walls with paint, I’ll move on to the woodwork. Despite sanding architraves and the balustrades for what seemed like forever, I still need to finish this off. I’d also like to open up the cupboard beside the little downstairs loo and just put some pegs up to hang your coats.
Back to it…..
